Position Description Manufacturing Engineer, Galvanizing

The Manufacturing Engineer will work within the Lindsay Galvanizing and Paint Departments and teams to support the overall project management effectiveness including project scheduling.  Additionally, the engineer will focus on continuous improvement as it relates to production processes and identifying/leading LEAN manufacturing techniques.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities

  • Identify and address areas for improvement that can reduce the overall cost of goods sold
  • Lead LEAN manufacturing techniques
  • Execute assigned projects in budget and on time
  • Implement safety and ergonomic improvements
  • Develop and optimize processes while focusing on product design and customer demand requirements
  • Identify and address improvement projects as it relates to ROI
  • Identity, support, and lead Safety, Ergonomic, Kaizen, Lean, and Continuous improvement projects

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other applicable major
  • 5+ years engineering experience (or applicable work experience), preferably in manufacturing
  • Candidate should have a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and the associated tools for improvement, such as Lean, 5S housekeeping, Six Sigma, ISO standards, and SPC.
  • A passion for safety that includes experience in improving both conditions and behavior in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, comfortable with working hands-on on the production floor. Strong Project Management skills in both procurement and machinery production
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change, implement quality programs, and drive data driven solutions to meet customer requirements
  • Excellent communication skills with a passion for employee engagement.
